The Precinct 8 Civil Division is responsible for the service of civil process throughout the precinct which includes citations, subpoenas, restraining orders, protective orders and other notices.
There are currently 8 Deputies assigned to the Precinct 8 Civil Division under the supervision of Lieutenant Charles Francis. The precinct is divided into districts and each district is assigned a Deputy who is responsible for the service of civil papers in that district. Deputies utilize an iPad application which tracks the civil papers throughout the process. This iPad application gives Deputies the ability to access his/her assigned process and immediately enter the service information in real time. Once the process has been served, an email is then sent to the Plaintiff and/or Plaintiff's Attorney advising them that the process has been served. This enhances communications between our office and those requesting service.
The various kinds of writs issued out of the courts are assigned to a Deputy who is responsible for the service of these types of orders. These include Writs of Garnishment, Writs of Attachment, Writs of Possession, Writs of Reentry, Writs of Sequestration, and Writs of Execution. In addition, those charged with handling writs conduct a monthly sale of real property as required by law.
The Civil Division operates out of our Pasadena office located at 7330 Spencer Highway.
