Crisis Negotiation

The Precinct 8 Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) is a specialized unit whose purpose is to bring a peaceful conclusion to certain types of critical incidents. Crisis negotiation is a law enforcement technique used to communicate with people who are suicidal or who are threatening violence including barricaded subjects, stalkers, criminals attempting to escape and most famously, hostage-takers. Our team consists of certified members each capable of dealing with these types of situations when the need arises. The team is only activated during an emergency. Our negotiators have received essential training to become certified in crisis negotiation and they periodically train to keep their skills sharp.
