Many of the calls for service Precinct 8 receives result in criminal cases being developed by our District and Toll Road Patrol units. A number of these cases necessitate the need for additional follow-up investigation of some kind. Examples of this include property crimes, assaults, robberies, missing persons and even fatality traffic accident cases. To aid in the investigative work, Precinct 8 utilizes Deputy Investigators who supplement the original case work. The duties of the investigators include taking statements, obtaining video evidence, collecting physical evidence, locating witnesses and other essential case work depending on the circumstances.
The work of the Deputy Investigators involves studying the facts of a case until a conclusion can be made or until evidence prevents them from going further. Precinct 8 often collaborates and shares information with surrounding law enforcement agencies to compare similar crimes in hopes of linking or solving cases.
